Sardinia Multimedia is a company that operates in the field of book publishing and is involved in ongoing partnerships with a plethora of Sardinian publishing houses.
The company specialises in the production phase of traditional books and e-books.
Over recent years, it has co-ordinated and participated in various multimedia and web-based publishing projects.
Another company, called MT, has dealt with a number of editorial operations and has organised numerous events in the culture sector, staging exhibitions in Italy and overseas. Alongside the creation of publishing products, it has developed and distributed software and specialist magazines throughout Italy.
The two companies commissioned a tool to provide users, via the deployment of new technologies and in-depth information gathering, with a service that allows them to search through a comprehensive catalogue of titles published in Sardinia.
The basic concept was to make available a wealth of information concerning Sardinian books, thereby linking up all of those involved in the book-production chain: customers, bookshops, publishers, distributors, agents, libraries, schools and cultural agencies.

To fulfil the clients' requests, Magica developed a portal in three languages (Italian, Sardinian and English) that integrates a range of tools in order to guarantee easy access to the relevant information: a catalogue (featuring publications, authors, publishers, distributors and bookshops), a news archive (with events, press cuttings, reviews and interviews), and an archive of multimedia documents and RSS feeds.
All of the content is interlinked and managed via a custom-designed CMS, and each publisher can add or modify the titles it has published that appear in the archive.
Professional users can also access additional services such as in-depth information, upcoming releases and the bimonthly magazine Libri Sardegna.
The members of the Lettori di Sardegna community can access a Forum, in which they can have their say on various publishing-related themes, on the Sardinian language and on the Sardinian school system. Moreover, they can receive information on events, news and the latest releases, tailored to meet their specific interests.
The graphic design and co-ordinated image of the SBS system were designed by Mouse artigrafiche, one of Magica's partner agencies.
